The Highs & Lows
The property market changes throughout the year and it is not always the same…
especially since Brexit.
Both residential and commercial property sale volumes have been reduced since June 2016 due to the uncertainty of Brexit. The latest ONS figures show that the Average House Prices in the UK increased by 1.2% in the year to May 2019 and down from 1.5% in April 2019. Other reasons for the housing market up’s and down’s could be because of seasonal trends.
UK Property Market increases in both price and the number of transactions when the weather is warming up. For buyers spring and summer are ideal times to be viewing and to proceed in a transaction. Although this season is the most popular to buy, it often isn’t the best time in terms of prices.
When the weather starts to get colder, house prices and transactions tend to fall from October to March. There may be fewer opportunities during this time, however sellers maybe more eager to sell, which means the buyer will have more bargaining power.
Until Brexit day in October, the uncertainty in the housing market will continue.
