Glossary

National Nature Reserves

An area designated by English Nature to protect and conserve nationally important areas of wildlife habitat and geological formations and to promote scientific research. All National Nature Reserves are Sites of Special Scientific Interest.

National Park

Tract of predominantly open and attractive countryside designated under the National Parks and Access to the Countryside Act 1949 with its own administration and management role and function as a local planning authority. The statutory purposes of National Parks are to conserve and enhance their natural beauty, wildlife and cultural heritage.

Nature Conservation

The preservation, management and enhancement of natural plant and animal communities.

Neighbourhood Renewal

The government?s overall plan for regenerating disadvantaged areas.

New Build Property

This is exactly what it sounds like and refers to a newly built property. These are classed as properties which have been built within the last 18 months or ones which have not yet had a previous occupant yet. Sometimes searches on New Build properties can be a bit more complicated however Conveyancing Data Services Ltd uses several different methods to overcome any problems we may encounter.

New Town

A free-standing new settlement designated and planned under the New Towns Act 1946 and subsequent legislation.

NHBC

This is an abbreviation for the National House Building Council. They set the standards for new homes.

NHBC Certificate

This is a certificate issued by the NHBC to confirm that a property (or properties within a development) have been built to their standards.

Notice to Complete

This is a demand made by one party to force the other to complete.
